Turbidivision is a free and open-source application that allows you to estimate the turbidity of water. All you need to provide is underwater images. Images can be taken with a camera of your choice, whether its a fancy waterproof camera, or just your smartphone.

The web version of the application runs on any device with a modern web browser: Desktop, Laptop, Smartphone, E-Reader, etc. The web version runs on Android versions lower than 12, only the Google Play version requires Android 12 or higher.

Using the app is simple. First, launch the app and wait for the model to load. Second, select your picture(s). Then wait for your images to process. Depending on your device and number of photos, it might take a whlie. Finally, save your results as a CSV file.

Your CSV file should look something like this:

Image Name 0-0.5 Conf. ... 45-55 Conf. Predicted FNU
Image_1.png 0.03... ... 0.04... 15.3
Image_2.png 0.98... ... 0.00... 0.44
Image_3.png 0.00... ... 0.52... 40.9

Although Turbidivision is a browser-based app, all processing is handled on your device. Therefore, your pictures are not uploaded to any server. This protects both your privacy, and saves your bandwidth. In addition, the app’s files are cached in your browser the first time you use it, so even without an internet connection it should still work. Or, try downloading the standalone version.
